Hi All!
So on the Saturday of Mothers Day weekend, my polynesian dance halau, Kehulili O Kailani, held our 5th annual hoike. We spent months preparing for all of our new songs for this big performance & luau, (including sewing all the costumes ourselves!) and it was simply amazing. All of the dancers were lovely, and the audience seemed to love every minute of the show! Here are a few pictures Andrew was able to take, and if it all works out, I'll try to upload a video of one of my dances!
I had to throw this picture in with the rest... Samuel is at home helping me pack for the dress rehearsal. He really wanted to try on this fern hei! What a handsome little keiki!
This is a photo of Sam & I before the show started.
Here is our class dancing Hi'ilawe with the ipu. You can really see my pregnant tummy in this shot! There were three pregnant girls dancing in my class this year, so I wasn't the only one! Also, it was sooo nice to have live musicians for our show! You can see them in the back...
I really like this costume - the red & black is so pretty! Here we are performing Lili'u, which is a traditional kahiko hula. (I'm in the middle here)
I figured out how to upload the video! So, here is my favorite song that we learned this year, called "Ruma Ruma Te Mau." It is a tahitian aparima, and we performed it with another class. Our class is wearing the grass skirts over our dresses... look for me on the far left! :)

I dont know how you move your hips like that Jess, but you look amazing! You cannot even tell you are pregnant! Baby Micah looks good on you :) Thanks for sharing these adorable pictures!
We had such a fun time! Laylie of course loved it so much that every time we talk about Auntie Ca, she does a little hula dance. :-)
