10 Year Anniversary

On December 7th, our family celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Living Donor Liver Transplant between my brother and my Dad.  We are so thankful that they are both healthy and doing so well 10 years later.  Thank you Jesus for taking care of them!

On Saturday, December 10th, my Mom organized a surprise party for Dad & Jason!  All the family and some dear friends gathered for a special lunch honoring my brother, my Dad, and the life-saving gift that was given 10 years ago.   What a special memory!

the reason for the transplant, a bad bile duct (& dad's 2nd autoimmune illness), was finally diagnosed back in 1996. i remember the shock, sad impact, & reaction of that time as if it were yesterday... jason was 18, jessica, you were sweet 16, & jillian was 12. one of dad's concens (as he was just talking to himself) regarded the possibility of never seeing grandkids (which is what happened to his own dad, when cancer took him from this world when jim was only 19, & we had been dating for 15+ months). and my goodness, grandchild number SEVEN arrives in june! God is gracious & kind & loving & giving & powerful & good & faithful... & your dad & i are so blessed. family means EVERYTHING to your dad (me too!) thank you for sharing this post, jessica... love you! :-)
