Our "gender reveal" date night

Last night we had our baby reveal date night!  On August 13, we had our ultrasound appointment where we had the technician write in a pink card & seal it in a blue envelope our baby's gender!  We wanted to wait until things died down a bit, with us being so busy (Sam's birthday, school starting, taking trips, packing, moving and more!!!), and for us that ended up being almost 2 months!

Soooo many people asked me if it was hard to wait, knowing that our baby's gender was in an envelope and sitting in my dresser drawer...  and to everyone's surprise, no, it wasn't very hard.  :)  I knew that whether a boy or girl, this was the perfect little baby that God had created for our family.  And each day I saw myself getting more and more excited about this new baby - boy or girl.  And so I was content waiting until the right time.  (I have such a sweet husband!  I'm sure he would have had the ultrasound tech tell us right then and there, but he wanted to wait until we (I) felt completely ready.)

The right time was last night, October 4th!  We planned a special date night - arranged for babysitters (thanks mom & dad!) - and booked a reservation at Seasons 52 - a new restaurant at UTC La Jolla that my bro & sis-in-law raved about and highly recommended!  We had the best time and the food was incredible!!!  Andrew says this is his new favorite restaurant.  :)  Oh, and I even got a cute haircut that day to help make our date extra special.  And, to top it all off, last night marked 100 days until our due date!  Maybe it was meant to be?
Here was our dessert sampling...  each dessert is a "mini indulgence" and we got 4 flavors to share...  Carmel Macchiato, Pecan Pie, Pumpkin Pie with Gingersnap Crust, and Chocolate-Peanut Butter.... WOW!!!
At the end of our dinner, we decided to open our envelope.  I was too nervous and asked Andrew to do it.  I wanted to watch his reaction first.  Of course, I think my words to him as I slid the envelope across the table were, quite matter-of-factly, "I know its a boy.  I know its a boy.  We don't even have to open it because I already know its a boy."  :)  And without hesitation, he opened it...  and it was an awesome moment.  One I'll remember forever!  He had this little smile that crept up on his face.  Which made me so curious.  And then he said something to me, which I can't remember exactly, but my initial reaction was pure shock and disbelief!

"We're having a daughter!"
I immediately burst into tears and shouted, "what?!?!"  He showed me and here's the proof...
What an incredible night!  We had the best time and now we get to be parents of two amazing, sweet boys and one precious baby girl!  Thank you God for these three treasures!

We thought of a really fun way to tell all of our family and friends on video that involved taking into account all of the "old wives tales" about how you can tell if you're having a boy or a girl.  Its up on You Tube and we'd love it if you wanted to take the time to watch all 8 minutes!!!  It even has the reactions from our boys, which is priceless.  Just click HERE  :)
