So this past weekend was our White family tradition of camping in Julian! Only this year, we ventured away from our traditional campground, and opted to all stay in a house/cabin together. We had tons of fun! The place we stayed at was called "Labyrinth in the Oaks" - - and sure enough there was a Labyrinth there. It took us a little while to find it... believe it or not. But we all headed out on a little hike in search for it and we found it!
Here is a photo of all 13 of us standing in the center of the Labyrinth. What labyrinth, you say? Oh, thats just because you can't see it... from this angle. We're standing on it! Its actually made entirely of little pebbles and rocks!! Mom & I trekked through the whole thing, and on our honor, didn't cheat by stepping over any of the rock "walls." :) From start to finish (and back to start, to get back out from the middle) the distance is 3/4 of a mile, so they say!

There was a pretty awesome playground there just outside the door and the kiddos had tons of fun there the entire time. (You can kind of see the playground in the background of this picture...) Sammy & Leia had such fun together! (I actually think Sam has equal amounts of fun with every one of his cousins!)

Over the whole weekend we also had fun walking around in the little town of Julian, eating some delicious apple pie, having tea at a little tea house with the girls (+ Micah), singing karaoke, riding bikes, doing a scavenger hunt for the kids, playing games and just hanging out together as a family.
Here's a photo of the karaoke in action. :) The kids had fun singing into the microphones... and thankfully there were some kid songs too... ABC's, Itsy Bitsy Spider, a few others I can't remember, and then all the kids shouted a finale of "God our Father" into the microphones.

Pre-scavenger hunt... :) All the contestants were ready and anxious to start!

This picture was taken during the scavenger hunt. You can see Stryder mid-air jumping for a clue hiding in a bird house!

All the cousins (minus Micah) getting ready to wind down and snuggle together to a bedtime showing of 101 Dalmations. :)

We visited this little tea house last year too... so fun! And delicious tea! I loved sipping my coconut mango tea! Mmmmmm....

Mamoe & Grandad
loved loving on little Micah all weekend. :)

What a fun weekend of family time and new adventures! Thanks for sharing the cute pics! OX
love-love-LOVE this accounting of the weekend, haha! so fun, so upbeat, so positive... no mention whatsoever of the house's many quirks, how WE had to clean certain things, beforehand, before settling in (good thing i just got 100% of my cleaning deposit back, huh?). gosh, i worked so hard just to FIND a place that would accommodate us all... dad thought the place great fun... personally, i think we might try the historical/restored (what appeared to be pristine) farmhouse next year, on the other side of the township, closer to lake cuyamaca. fishing, anyone? ;-)
ps - wish i could figure out a way to just plop all THIS on my FB, as a photo album (with an invite to go there, from my wall) ...it's perfection, Jessica. you did a really great job capturing the spirit of this family weekend! awesome job! :-) xoxo, mom
