Oregon

We spent 2 weeks away on vacation, and had a fun time up in Florence, Oregon!  While on the trip, I actually filled the memory card on my camera with photos, so that might give you an idea of how many pictures of fun times there were!  To condense things a bit for this post, I grouped most of the photos together so you can see the fun at a glance.  Be sure to click on each collage to view them larger!

On our way up, we stopped for a night in Sacrament to visit our dear friends, the Wisners.  The next morning before hitting the road, we all took a train ride in Old Town Sacramento on an antique steam train.  The train ride was about 40 minutes long and went down the Sacramento River.  The boys loved it!  One of the best parts was 1/2 way through the train ride, when the engine uncoupled from the front of the train, and drove down the line to the back of the train and re-coupled to the caboose, to then pull us back to the station!  As you can see in the middle picture below, the boys were able to stand right at the end of the train to watch the train hook back on!
Our next stop was the city of Mt. Shasta.  We did some research before the trip and decided to stop at this little stream, which is actually the headwaters (source) for the entire Sacramento River (from the snow melt of Mt. Shasta).  This is where all the locals go to fill up their water bottles, because it is the freshest, purest, most clean water you'll ever drink!  Straight from the stream!  You see the water flow directly from the rocks, and it is so good and cold!  I wish we would have brought more bottles to fill up.  But we had agreat time.  Sammy loved walking on the rocks with Andrew, and after relaxing there for a bit we let the kids play at the playground that was right there.
We were so glad to finally make it to Florence, Oregon!  It was a long, long trip, especially with two young boys in the back seat!  Here is a summary of some of the fun times that were had...

Driving golf carts & racing Great Grampy's scooters!
Fun at the Woahink Lake - Samuel loved riding the innertube, chasing & catching skeeters, splashing in the shallow lake water, climbing up a tall sand dune then running back down, and playing with his cousin Josh!
Micah had lots of fun at the lake too.  The shallow water was warm enough to crawl around in, and Micah loved when Andrew swung him around in circles in the water.  Micah even waved "bye-bye" for the first time, while he was riding in the boat and looking at his Daddy who was waterskiing all around the lake!
Here's our family of four having fun on the sandbar.  What a beautiful lake surrounded by lush green trees!
Some of the days were too cold/wet to spend at the lake.  As Sammy would say, "Mr. Mist" came a lot up in Oregon!  One of these days we drove to Mapleton, Oregon and took a hike to Sweet Creek Falls.  It was so gorgeous!  Here are some pictures of the hike & waterfall.  After the hike, as is tradition, we stopped by this little restaurant and enjoyed some yummy homemade gingerbread & ice cream!
One of the things we most look forward to in Oregon is going to the Siuslaw Sporting Clays with Uncle Drake & cousin Jeff.  :)  It is always so much fun!  You shoot at about 4 clays discs at each of the 12 stations.  And would you believe it, I got 2nd place this year, hitting 20 out of 50!  :)
Here are the boys throwing poppers outside

Visiting the Sea Lion Caves on a rainy day

What a sweet picture of Gigi, Great Grampy & their three great grandchildren!
Walking along the driving range
Enjoying a golfing day with Daddy & Grampy.
Sammy loved playing golf just like Daddy!
On the drive home we stopped by the Sundial Bridge in Redding, CA.  What a fun place to stretch your legs during a long road trip!
And we made a little side trip on the way home and toured the Jelly Belly Factory in Fairfield, CA.  Very fun!  I have such fond memories of visiting this place with my family growing up!
It was a fun vacation, but we are glad to be back home!  See you next year, Oregon!

What great pictures! We really enjoyed our time up there with you all. It's truly incredible that the same Oregon shirt Andrew wore, now his 2 boys have worn also! Thanks for sharing these sweet memories with us! Love you all!
